For Americans moving to Mexico
Move to Mexico the legal way.
From visa to resident card.
We help Americans move to Mexico the legal way. You work with our team from the first document through the resident card. Licensed Mexican immigration counsel handles the filing.
How it works
From the first document through the resident card.
You work with our team for the whole sequence. Licensed Mexican immigration counsel handles the filing. We handle the consulate appointment, the financial evidence, the trip to Mexico to exchange the visa for the card, and the follow-up with the National Migration Institute.
-
The first document
You start with our team. The residency path runs from that first document through the resident card.
-
The consulate appointment
We handle the consulate appointment at the Mexican consulate as part of the sequence.
-
The financial evidence
We handle the financial evidence that goes with the process. What you need depends on your situation. We do not publish dollar thresholds here.
-
The filing
Licensed Mexican immigration counsel handles the filing. We are not the lawyers, and we do not file in their place.
-
The trip to exchange the visa for the card
The sequence includes the trip to Mexico to exchange the visa for the resident card. We handle that step with you.
-
Follow-up with the National Migration Institute
We follow up with the National Migration Institute (INM), Mexico’s immigration office. That follow-up is part of the sequence. We do not have someone inside INM, and we do not move a file.
Services
Three paid pieces. One is the core.
Residency is the work. A bank introduction comes after the card. A vehicle consult is its own job. Contact us for pricing. We don’t list fees on this page.

Core service
Residency path
Temporary or permanent residency, depending on your situation. In Spanish, that is residente temporal or residente permanente. The path runs from the first document through the resident card: the consulate appointment, the financial evidence, the trip to exchange the visa for the card, and follow-up with the National Migration Institute (INM). Licensed Mexican immigration counsel handles the filing.

Add-on, after the card
Bank introduction
Once you are a resident, we walk you through a Mexican bank account. This is a short add-on after the card, not part of the filing.
Ask about a bank introduction -
Priced on its own
Vehicle consult
A separate engagement from the residency path, because a temporary import permit and a permanent import are different jobs. We tell you which one you are in before you drive south. Many cars do not qualify for a permanent Mexican plate.
Ask about the vehicle consult
Your car and Mexico
We do not register your American car.
Once you are a resident, we can walk you through what it actually takes to keep or import a U.S. vehicle. That is a consult. It is not a registration.
A U.S. car is not registered in Mexico the way a Texas car is registered at the county. Most people start with a temporary import permit. A permanent Mexican plate is a separate import, and many cars do not qualify. We tell you which one you are in before you drive south.
Mexico Residency Partners does not register a client’s American car in Mexico. If you want the vehicle consult, it is priced on its own. Contact us for pricing.
Who handles what
Our team, the lawyers, the consulate, and INM.
Each part of this has an owner. We don’t stand in for the lawyers, a notario, the Mexican consulate, or the National Migration Institute.
-
Mexico Residency Partners
We handle the sequence, not the filing.
We handle the consulate appointment, the financial evidence, the trip to Mexico to exchange the visa for the card, and the follow-up with the National Migration Institute. After the resident card, a bank introduction is a short add-on. Before you drive south, the vehicle consult tells you whether you are looking at a temporary import permit or a permanent import.
-
Licensed Mexican immigration counsel
The lawyers handle the filing.
Licensed Mexican immigration counsel handles the legal filing. We are not a law firm, we do not give legal advice, and we do not file in their place.
-
A notario, when a deed is involved
Property deeds are separate.
If a property deed is involved, that work belongs to a notario. In Mexico, a notario is a licensed legal professional who prepares and records certain deeds. A notario is not a U.S. notary, and a deed is not part of the residency filing.
-
The Mexican consulate
Where the appointment happens.
The consulate appointment is one step we handle in the sequence. The Mexican consulate is the office for that appointment. We do not speak for the consulate.
-
The National Migration Institute (INM)
Mexico’s immigration office.
INM is the National Migration Institute. Follow-up with INM is part of the sequence we handle. We do not have someone inside INM, and we do not move a file.
